I am fortunate to never have suffered a major, debilitating injury while playing at the highest levels- in college at Duke University and while playing both professional box and field lacrosse for over 10 years. I have, however, missed my share of games from nagging injuries and have been on tons of training tables under the care of lots of different physical therapists. It is with this background that I have chosen to write this testimonial about a truly remarkable physical therapist right here in the Bay area, Colman O’Leary, for whom I have the highest regard.

I first encountered Colman and San Francisco-based Active Care, while playing for the Colorado Mammoth in 2003. (At the time, Colorado was the western-most professional box lacrosse team in the U.S. and I resided in San Francisco). I had a horrible ankle sprain that doctors advised me would keep me out of play for 2 months. That meant I would miss the last month of pre-season and the 1st month of the regular season. After my first consultation and workout at Active Care, I knew that I was off to a speedy recovery. Exactly one month after sustaining my ankle injury and a lot of hard work with the staff at Active Care, I was back in the line up for our season home opener in front of 15,000 adoring (and very avid!) Colorado fans.

I rely on my body for work as a coach and pro athlete. Due to the nature of my sport, I have since found myself often calling on Active Care. Bottom line is, I can’t be bothered by nagging injuries that might possibly affect my work. Active Care continually takes me in, gets my body where it needs to be in order to compete and work at the highest level, and helps me maintain an edge. Colman and the staff at Active Care are, simply- the best.
